3 months makes a big difference in baby time, Crew 3 months, Luke 1 week

Luke had a difficult start, and was in Nicu for 6 days, but didn't have any trouble with hair.
He weighed 6lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long.

It's so great after all these years, Lindsay and Keith were able to have a baby. He was truly worth the wait. It's great to be grandparents!

Stacey had her baby boy and named him Crew Nathanial. He was 7lbs 11oz. and 20 inches long and was born Sept. 27th.

Wade was so glad to see his mom again. When he saw the picture of Crew and talked to Stacey on the phone, he said "mom you found my baby brother".

He has lots of hair.

We will bring Averi and Owen to the hospital when they get out of school.

This makes our 26th Grandchild!

Lindsay is 4 months pregnant with a baby boy! She and Keith have wanted a baby for years and finally it's happening. This is their first and we are all so excited!

Molly is pregnant with a baby girl and due in a couple of weeks, Stacey with a boy next month and Roxy, Josh's wife in February.

Cooper, our oldest grandson, is probably going to get married this winter to a girl he met at BYU Idaho. I guess she's a real sweetheart.

Our posterity is growing. That will make 28 grandchildren and our first granddaughter in law.

I know these pictures aren't great, but Whitnie and Randy are in Hawaii and missed out on Chris's field trip to a rock museum. He actually was very interested.

He's a pretty cute 7 year old.He was one of the better listeners and better behaved in the group!

There is a lot to learn about rocks. Most of these kids knew a whole lot more about rock than I did.

He wanted to make sure I was close, even though he hung out with the others.

After serving a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of later-day Saints, Cooper is home! We were fortunate enough to be here to meet him at the air port.

It was a beautiful day so we decided to go ATVing to our favorite place

It's quite a job getting ready, I guess, you don't see me out there!

Pilots Peak is a beautiful area. It's the highest mountain so you look down on all the other mountains from here. The bathroom facilities aren't great. No door on the porta-potty and it's strictly bring your own tp!

But the view from the restroom is beautiful and quite restful!

Pilot's Peak is actually a ranger station for fires and a satalite station for the media also. We sit on the cement patio you see out front and eat our lunch and enjoy the beautiful view. The trail is getting quite bad but it's worth the view! I will miss this about Idaho.

Hatch Family Reunion at Zion's Ponderosa Resort

We decided it was time to have our first official family reunion. Lindsay lined everything up. It was quite pricey but really worth it, and we all just paid parts at a time. This place had 7 bedrooms, a loft full of bunk beds, a top and bottom family room and large patio's on each floor.

The greatest part was that the kitchen was separated from the living quarters by a large covered eating area. We all hung out there and the rest stayed clean! The weather was in the hi 80's and low 90's. Everyone got a long great and stayed busy.

Besides balloons and shooting, they had 2 beautiful pools with slides, a ranch house with pool tables shuffle board etc. It cost more for zip lines, Rapelling wall, some of the mom's had massages, so there was plenty to do. Each night there was entertainment, like movies under the stars. The favorite was the barn dance. Everyone joined in, they had a leader for the line dance. The favorite was when she showed everyone the dance steps to thriller.

One of our favorite things was family night, we all got letters and things together for Cooper Trost who is on a mission and was just made AP

Being together was wonderful and a great times for cousins to get to know each other again.
I miss them all! We have great kids and you never know what a good job you do until you see what great parents they are!

All of our families were there. It was Les's Birthday and everyone got together and got him a nice camera. Stacey's the professional so she is showing him how to use it.

Balloon launch was a great hit. They aimed at a truck parked quite far away, most had a turn and they shot over a thousand balloons.

One time our ward borrowed a train like this for a picnic. So Les and his friends decided to make their own. Five of them got together, got 50 gallon plastic drums and proceeded to make the train.

It was a great idea and they had lots of fun, however they did cost about $120 a piece. They made them together then each took one home to decorate. It was amazing how different they all turned out.

The one with stars is the one Les did.

They had a great time and they've been used a few times already.

This place has great breakfasts. Adam and Keith once ordered their 8 egg omlets. They spare no expence on decor or signs.

ATVing at Pilates Peak, you just can't get a more spectacular view

I got a new laptop and with it came this net book. You can do anything you can do with a regular computer, it's a little slower, but fun too use. It weighs less than 2 lbs, so will be great to travel with. Below you can see how small it is. Oh yes and I lost the diamond out of my ring again, so I got a ring with smaller diamonds till I can afford to get my other one fixed.

After we went to Cambria Hatch's baptism in CA, Stacey, me and her 3 kids packed up and went to AZ to see Mark, Molly and their 2 kids. This is Owen Bishop almost 4 with Ashlyn Jolley, just turned 2.
OK, so I'm not a good photographer, and almost cut of Ashlyn's head as she is next to her little sister Sadie who is already 6 months old.
It was really hot, but the kids had fun in the water, we even went to a great water park. Molly has just moved in to her new home, and it has a big yard, which will be great when they get it done.
This is for Stacey's older brother and sisters, Wade was 15 months old when this was taken, and he preferred to push something rather than walk. Stacey was 17 months old, so you still have plenty of time Wade. I can't believe Sponge Bob is on in the back ground, but great picture of the tv show, not so much of Wade's face. What a cutie.
When the kids get together they like to do art projects. Budding artists at work. Looks like Mark still has a few craft projects left in the new home as well. It's looking great though. I was surprised how much they have done.

We went to California over Mother's Day for Cambria, Josh's daughter's baptism. While there we stayed with Stacey and her family. Stacey had to go into the bakery one day, so Owen, Wade and I went to the Mall for a few hours. Grandma's know the best way to babysit. Sometimes it involves buying lego's.

I can't believe Josh's oldest, Cambria, is old enough to be baptized!

She is so sweet and polite and knowledgeable. After the baptism, she bore her testimony, then asked her mom and dad to do the same. They were both crying and had a difficult time getting up.

It was such a good day for her having so much family and friends around. It was great to see the Hampton's again. The sad thing about divorce is it's hard , not to see the other side of the family and socialize anymore.

I like Josh's wife, Roxy's new hair do. She has been so patient with Josh being out of work for so long with his injuries from the wreck on the train. He has finally had all his surgeries and hopefully will be back to work next month.

Even if the kids aren't there, he'll come in and make himself a sandwich. When you have a lot of kids, you just don't notice.

Mother's funeral

As most of you know, my mother passed away Easter Sunday after a long bout with Cancer. She came to live with us March 17th 2008. On March 17th 2009, she went into a nursing home as she was no longer able to get out of bed or walk. April 12th, when she passed away she was pretty much paralized. So it was that great and dreadful day. Knowing she was ready to go. We had a very nice graveside service as she had requested. My sister, Dolores, my cousin Ron, and several other cousins, came including those from Salt Lake who came all the way to the funeral and went home after. Most of her close friends also attended. All of our children and some of the in-laws and grandkids came. They did the whole ceremony. It was a special and uplifting day. The services were short, started on time, and very nice and I know mom would have enjoyed it.

Wade, Stacey's 1yr old discovered fry sauce while he was here. It almost became an addiction. You don't want to mess with him until his fry sauce is gone and their is no more in sight.

We finally decided it was time to get a flat screen TV and the best time was while Stacey and Keith were here to hook it up. Great to have smart kids and in-laws. Did I say "a" flat screen TV? We actually got 2. Mom is now in a nursing home, and Les has his old den or "Man Cave" back, and I figured if he got a flat screen in there, I wouldn't have to give up the one in the family room for sports all the time. We had just been talking to the neighbors across the street and their TV had just gone out, so we gave them our old big screen TV, so that worked out well.

Stacey brought her 3 kids up for a visit with grandma Udy whom they call Grandma Beauty. We all had a great visit. One of our favorite places was the science museum. Here Owen is making a huge bubble. Don't know the girl next to him.

This is Owen on a bed of nails. He was pretty brave. This place has several rooms filled with basically science project you can try. It was great for adults as well as kids.

WII is kind of Universal, 2 of the guys are bent over with laughter.

The World Special Olympics are in town and our friends sponsored these 3 from the Jamaican indoor hockey team. They were great guys, and had a great time playing WII for the first time. Dayne, in the white shirt, takes it very seriously.

Dayne is in the white shirt, Dexter in back and Winford is in the yellow shirt. Winford is also deaf. They are all from the same Jamaican hockey team. They have played other games, but this was their first time playing WII.

In the back are the Overman's. It was fun having them in our home for an evening of fun. Les gave them copies of these pictures to take home and they just loved it.

They all just have small TV's at home so even the TV was fascinating to them.

New Years Eve!

Friends of ours were having a New Years Eve Party, but because mom is doing so poorly, we couldn't go. So they asked if they could just move the party to our house. Mom had gotten a couple of boquets so that made it easy to decorate.

We just talked, played games and ate a lot. No one went home early, most stayed awhile after New Years.

Several showed up even though it was so cold and snowy. We had a great time.
It's great having such good friends, and ones that like to have fun too. Most of these are ones we go ATVing with.

One of the games we played was Bingo for silly prizes. My kids used to love that. One of the prizes was a pregnancy test and at our ages that was pretty funny.

Molly and Mark went to Utah for Christmas and got permission to have her baby blessed there. Mom isn't doing well, but my friend stayed with her while we went overnight to Utah for the blessing. Roads were terrible and we had to take a 2 hr detour, but we went anyway.

Ashlyn was glad her cousins Cash and Joseph were there.

Christmas in Idaho

Les decorated this room, you don't see many shepherds in glasses and I thought my robe looked quite nice.

This is the Inn Keeper, would you argue with him? It was really a fun night, and the person in charge of dinner, family are caterer's so the food was actually great and warm

This is something we do every year in conjunction with the Nazarine Church.

We, along with others in our ward, collect specific items and fill these boxes for children in under-priveleged areas. The boxes include hats, gloves, socks, tooth paste and brushes, small toys, candy and several other items. About 2,000 in all are collected.

These are just a few of the boxes we collected and wrapped

Our friends Joe and Annette are the ones that got this started.

These pictures ended up in opposite order than I thought. We were blessed to go to Oregon to spend a few days during Thanksgiving with Whitnie and her family, Keith and Lindsay, and Stacey and Adam and family came up from California. Not only is it great having family together. Many of our Thanksgivings when our children all lived at home were spent with our daughter-in-law Jenni's family, the Nelson's. Joe Nelson, Jenni's brother, and his family came from Seattle area to spend a few days. It was great laughing and having fond memories of the past. Please note, Owen decorated the jello with just a few m&m's, he said that was his piece.

I don't know how we ever got such a reverent picture of Chase Nelson and Owen Bishop. That was a rarity.

The girls were much more reverent. Averi Bishop in blue, Clarissa and Corrine Nelson, used to live in same ward in California and were good friends.

Gas at Costco is down to $1.97! We never thought we would see gas prices that low, and it's great at Thanksgiving. We are going to try to go to Whitnie and Lindsay's for Thanksgiving. We have people lined up to visit with mom each day and our Bishop and his wife are bringing her Thanksgiving dinner. We have to wait till the last minute to see how she is doing first. So far so good!

Each day we tried to have a craft activity for the kids to do.
OK, Wade didn't do any of the crafts. He was just plain cute!

Ashlyn really got into it, even though she didn't always understand what to do, she felt it was special.

Owen took it very serious, and worked hard.

It was so good the kids stayed busy, cause we all ended up with the flue on different days,even Averi and Owen. Averi was so patient with the others.

I Am with Molly in Queen Creek Arizona. The Dr. is going to induce her on Wed. Nov. 5th since the baby should be here by now, and just hasn't felt like coming yet. We went to their ward's trunk or treat last night. She's an angel but refuses to wear her halo, however just as we were leaving she put on bunny ears, but mom said no.

Andrea Gibb Tagged me. I was tagged once before, I think by Stacey, but it was when my mother was moving in with us and I just couldn't think. I still can't think of much. Unlike many, I think as I get older, things bother me less. Many things just aren't important in the whole scheme of things. But here it goes:

1. It really bothers me when the bagger at the grocery store, puts cans in the bag upside down.

2.It, of course, bothers me to have things upside down in my pantry. If someone helps me put things away, I go back and turn things right side up when they aren't looking.

3. I get really annoyed when traveling, and there are mile after mile of construction cones and not a construction worker in sight. Utah is the worst.

4. I don't like to see employees standing outside the store smoking. Especially at a restaurant. It helps that they have to be 20 feet a way from the door, but it's still nausiating.

5. It bothers me when kids are dressed extreme, and they are with their parents at the mall who are probably the ones purchasing the items. I'm sure the kids I see don't work.

6. I probably should have put this as #1. It really bothers me when comedians on TV belittle people running for office. I think it's wrong, no matter what party the politician represents. I think it is especially sad what they have done to President Bush and how disrespectful they are to Sarah Palin. Anyone willing to run for office in this day and age should be appreciated.

7. If I wanted to know who movie stars and athletes want to win the election,I would email them. I don't think they should use the media to express their opinion. If they want to tell their friends fine, but don't tell me, unless I ask.

It's mighty early, but Friday night we were out with friends when we noticed it was snowing!

The next day it was still icy.

ok, this has nothing to do with anything, but the upper apartment, left hand side was our first apartment when we got married over 45 yrs ago. It was $70 a month, fully furnished, utilities paid. It was only about the size of a garage, but I bet it rents for a lot more now.

The soil is so rich here, even I can be a gardener. My cucumbers turned out a foot long, but very sweet. We have had hundreds of tomatoes. Someone told me if you put green tomatoes in a box lined with newspaper and cover each row with newspaper, put in the garage which is cool now, we can have tomatoes way into the winter. I did that yesterday, which was good, because we woke up to frost this morning.

Fall in Silver City

This is one of our favorite places to ATV. Silver City has a population of 64 in summer and 1( a security guard in the winter. You can only access it by snow mobile in winter.

Each year they have a home tour. The homes can't be restored on the outside, but on the inside they are quite beautiful. People use them as summer homes. It's almost impossible to buy here as you can't build new and old ones are usually passed down to family or sold word of mouth.

This is the old school house. When a mining town would close down they would bring window, tin roofs, anything they could haul, to begin a new town.

This is the old masonic lodge. Silver City was a big town at one time. The guy that owns the "Silver Slipper Saloon" in town, bought this as a guest house. He has several bedrooms, kitchen and bath fixed up. It's quite nice. The main hall is used by the masons once a year. They are in the process of fixing that part up now.

Miss Tami's Tea Garden

When Lindsay was in town, we went to one of my favorite restaurants, Miss Tami's Tea Garden. I miss Jenni and Lauren, because we used to go there on special occasions.

We had herbal tea and a nice little lunch on china plates.

The pictures didn't turn out very well, but it is all frilly and cozy in there.. I don't think there was a guy in the restaurant. The food is great and is very relaxing. There is a cute little gift shop in there also.

New family room furniture

I loved my old couches and they lasted longer than I thought they would, but they were becoming thread bare in some places. We have been looking for a long time but could never agree. Notice no coffee table, that's because we got a wii and Les felt it was in the way and we no longer needed one.

This is the first thing we have agreed upon so I felt we should make the move before one of us changed our minds. It's kind of a Chanille material, so it should last long and clean easy.

I know it's a lot of red in here, but I needed something cheery, may use other accents later.

They're really comfortable, and Salsa just noticed she was not in the picture. Sorry Salsa, too late!

Les's brothers and sisters get together in Twisp Washington at his brother Chip's home every year. His sister Mary Jean passed away last year, so there is just the 5 of them left. I felt bad I couldn't go, but needed to be with mom. Chip's son Hank owns most of the businesses in Twisp. This is his deli.

In the Hatch Garden

We have a tradition of getting grandkids hand prints on a framed canvas. We do footprints if they are babies. We ran out of room on the two we have since we are soon to be grandparents of 24. This is Gunner.

This is Stacey's baby Wade, He's about 6 months and twice as big as Gunner.

This is Josh and Roxy's Meadow. We put the name and date by each print.

This is Gunner, Josh's youngest. He is finally getting a little weight on him. He's almost 4 months, but when he was in Idaho he was only about 8 lbs and since he was 3 weeks early, still looked like a new born.

He didn 't lack for attention when we were there. I'm sure with so 3 brothers and 2 sisters he never lacks for attention. This is Molly's Ashlyn by him.

We asked if Josh could bless the baby while we were in California. Murpheys law, it was their stake conference, so it ended up taking place at Josh's home. Left to right is Josh holding Gunner, Proud Grandpa Les, the bishop, and Stacey's husband Adam. Can you tell by the heighth, Adam is not a Hatch? The Bishop would fit right in.

We took the afternoon and went to San Anofre Beach. Stacey wanted to take Senior pictures of her nephew Austin and no one minded going along.

It was great, Lindsay took a couple of days off work. We went to the Pittock Mansion with Lindsay and Keith. It was a beautiful day, sorry Keith, I almost didn't get your head in the picture.

The mansion was finished in the early 1900's. The homeowner owned the local paper. It was very big but homey inside. I really enjoyed the visit.

The view was spectacular, looking over Portland on one side and the Columbia river on the other.

That evening we went to the Clark County fair and had an enjoyable evening. Chris loved the rides and the animals. We didn't ignore Jake, Kyle and Shelly, but Shelly was at EFY and when she got home, she immediately starting emailing friends from there. Jake and Kyle didn't get home from their Scout Adventure week until almost midnight of our last night, and we were too tired to remember pictures. I think they're coming for a visit in a couple of weeks. And of course Cooper is on his mission.

I'll buy a frame when we're in California and do it then because his will almost fill a frame, and we need Wade Bishop's too!, and maybe we can leave it for when Molly's new baby is here in Oct.

She was very good! We do hands for the older kids, but found babies won't keep their hands open so we do feet.

Some of the names were fading on the older kids, so Jenni redid them. Cooper and Lauren were 11 when we started this and now they're 19. Evie is grand baby 22, Gunner 23 and Molly's will be 24 for us. Great start on our posterity. We are truly blessed!

Fun at Placerville

Placerville is a great place to go ATVing. It's an old mining town and has a population of 62, most of the places up there are fixed up and quite cute. There is an old cemetery dating from 1862 and is quite fascinating. So once you get there by ATV there's lots to see. This is the only store in town.

It was such a great thing to have Josh and his family come to visit! It was also good for grandma to see her youngest grandson as well as the others.

The kids were so good, and this was Cambria and Hunter's first trip here. I think they will want to come again.

Thank goodness they're still the age to love the dollar store.

Meadow and Cambria had a great time together, they are 7. I think their favorite thing to do was play in the sprinklers.

I called them about noon the next day and they were almost home. They have to make a lot of stops with that many kids, and trust me when we went anywhere their bladders are not very big. Snake River Stampede: They all had a great time! How could you not with cotton candy?

It just wouldn't be a good visit till you go to Eagle Island. Poor Josh took each child for about a half hour boat ride, after about 3 hrs he had quite a sunburn. This is Josh and Hunter.

Another favorite spot is Cabelas Sporting Goods, The kids love the large aquariums, the guys like the guns. Johnny, Cambria and Meadow

Guess who Came to Visit!

Josh and Family traveled all night so that they could visit with Grandma Udy and of course us. Little Gunner is 2 months old now, but looks so tiny. This is the first time we have seen him and what a blessing to have them all visit.

Of course a rousing game of Wii was fun for Johny, Hunter and Mason

Cambria loves lemons! We went to Primo's all you can eat Pizza and she ate a couple of pieces of pizza, then filled her plate with broccoli with cheese, mandarin oranges and lemons.

Molly's Tubs

We just got back from a camping ATV trip to Warm Lake Idaho. It's about 30 miles east of Cascade. Deep in the forest is a place called Molly's tubs. There is a hot springs there and people have left bath tubs.

There are hoses from the spring that brings hot water into the tubs. It's about the temperature of a hot tub. It was a hot day so we didn't get in even though we did bring suits. The water fills up quickly and the view is great. I don't know how it got it's name.

There's beautiful meadows everywhere. This is a place we would love to go again.

The sad thing is they had a terrible fire up there last year and much of the forest was burned.

You probably can't tell, but these are butterflies. There are thousands of butterflies in the area. Even an ATV ride with the flowers and butterflies can be spectacular and yes the lake is warm compared to the other water areas around.

4th of July Week End

We had a great 4th of July. The neighborhood has a block party every year and many neighbors come and bring hundred's of dollars of fireworks. It was a cool evening and great for sitting and visiting after eating bbq hamburgers, hotdogs and pot luck. Judy and I always furnish the meat and buns and everyone else brings the rest.

These are just the legal ones, the ones in the air didn't show up. In Idaho you can buy illegal fireworks as long as you promise not to shoot them off here or Oregon. Needless to say, that doesn't work to well with anyone. But we are in a pretty safe neighborhood, not much dry grass area.

The next day Les went to the Northwest AutoFest. There were about 1500 cars there and that night they had a mini route 66 parade through downtown Boise.

People were a little better control than at route 66, it was really fun. We ate at an outside restaurant and and were able to sit there all evening. There was a little breeze and was shady so it was fun.

Boise is a college town, and there are a lot of bikers, and of course, a lot of posers, so I had as much fun watching people as cars. We got there about 6 pm and left about 10:30 so it was a nice evening.

Tomorrow we are going camping ATVing with friends from church and the neighborhood. Mom has people coming to visit and the hospice nurse will stop by. This is a trial seeing if we can leave her long enough to go visit family some time.

Christian Bo Widerburg 1973 ~ 2008 Christian "Bo" Widerburg, born April 18, 1973, died an accidental death June 28, 2008. Bo was a natural born leader. He was president of Twality Middle School in Tigard, Oregon, where he helped raise over $50,000 for a classmate with cancer. He earned the honor of an Eagle Scout with his project of raising $5,400 for Dorn Beckers Hospital. He served a mission for the LDS Church to France in 1992. Bo was married for seven years. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in French from the University of Oregon. He was a manager for Cinemark Movie Theaters at Tinsel Town in Layton, Utah, and worked for this company for 10 years. Bo was very giving and kind, all who knew him loved him. Survived by his parents, Paul and Calla Widerburg; sisters: Crystal, Sadie and Chantelle Widerburg; grandparents, Beth Widerburg and David and Janice Coon; and by his dog, Foxy. "Bo will truly be missed" Funeral services will be held Sat., July 5, 2008, 1 p.m. at the South Jordan Stake Center, 2450 West 10400 South. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Spent the Weekend with Friends

We haven't been anywhere since mom came to stay. Friends of ours offered their daughters place which is right next to theirs. No this isn't it, this is an old mining shack in Placerville that fell with the snows this year.
It was so nice to get away and this was quite comfortable, even though we were in it just to sleep. It rained at night and was nice and cool, everything smelled so good the next day.
Grand Jean is just beautiful and is at the foot of the Sawtooth Mts. There's still snow at the top. In Idaho there are lakes and streams everywhere. Further down where there are more rapids, we saw lots of river rafters. The water has to be cold as the snow is still melting.
Even with several forest fires in the area the last few years, there are trees and flowers everywhere. We saw several deer.
There are also atv trails everywhere so we mostly read, slept,visited, ate and rode our atv's. Life is good! When we cam home Mom was fine.

Nature, there are animals and birds everywhere. We watched the mother hawk feed her babies.

We always have beautiful fluffy clouds even on warm sunny days. Not quite this many clouds in warm weather, but always a few billowy ones. Notice how blue the sky is here, and at night you can see billions of stars.

This doesn't show up to very good, but in the center is a big rock that was hit by lighting years and years ago. It looks like a loaf of bread with a slice. It's called bread loaf rock. We used to pass it when we went to mom and dad's cabin in Cascade. They have made a new road since then so we had to go on an old road to find it.

We've been married 45 years, 6 children, soon to be 24 grandchildren and still counting. Retired and loving life. Not a bad ride. My grandfather always told me the first 50 years are the hardest. We're almost there! Like all marriages there have been ups and downs, but we've really been blessed and it has mostly been great!

We were going to do something exciting, like a cruise, but since my mom is here now, we just decided to get new counter tops instead. We went out to dinner and a movie yesterday so that was nice. It's just nice being healthy and being together.

OK, I didn't think it mattered about a sink, but this is a work of art. I love the under mount. We decided not to go cheap on that, and the faucets just came from Sam's Club. It just makes the kitchen pop.
